Bboy Physicx in the Circus | 360 Allstars | Australia

I find it interesting that I’m bumping into a lot of Physicx articles lately, not that I have a problem with it. This latest one is quite a wonder. Physicx in the circus, say what?! Christchurch bboy, Leerok, rubbing shoulders with an international fave, what?! And now… I’m jealous. Lol.

Like mentioned in one of my previous entries, Physicx is currently in Australia. He said he’d be judging and touring while doing workshops. I figured this low intensity stuff might be for his recovery. But I guess he missed to mention joining the circus too. Wow. I would never ever have guessed that in a million years. The idea seems a little off-key, but actually it’s not so bad once explained.

This circus tour is called 360 Allstars. The show is described as “an urban carnival, a fast, furious and astounding defiance of gravity and equilibrium showcasing all forms of rotation in the dizzy street styles of today: break dancing, BMX flatlining, beat boxing, basketball freestyle, exhibition drumming and roué cyr.”

Basically, it’s a show that revolutionizes the traditional concepts of the circus – which is an idea I’m totally open to. When I’m watching the circus I’m like, “how the hell they do that?!” Well, it’s a sentiment that most people share not only with the circus but also towards what they don’t completely understand. I know very well my breaking – but others don’t, in the same way I don’t know much about BMX or roué cyr. There’s a lot of “how the hell they do that?!” in this world, especially in the day to day streets that we sometimes fall blind and deaf to – the urban street culture.

Here is a taste of the circus, featuring Physicx, Leerok and basketball freestyler, Rashaun Daniels:

Now I understand what Physicx meant by doing workshops. In another article, they explained “the circus performers are teaching their tricks to local youth in free workshops… it’s a rare opportunity to work with the best in the world in each art form.” Now I'm a little more accepting of the idea. Good on him for giving back to the community and spreading the culture.

Leerok is a local New Zealand bboy from Common Ground, who continues to inspire and wow me since the day I first learned of his existence. Lol. I always wondered why he doesn’t participate on the international stage as much as Acorn and Grub-D – he probably does but just not covered well, perhaps? And to see him perform beside Physicx, it’s like wow – that’s quite cool man, and at the same time, I’m like finally, some recognition for the dude.

It's going to be awesome with Leerok. When you have a kiwi in your team, you know shi stuff is going down! Charismatic people, kiwis are.

Currently the tour is in Australia. 360 Allstars also plan to spend two months touring parts of Europe, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland and Belgium.

Check them out :)

Peace x :)
