Physicx finally finished his military service. This interview looks into what he’s been up to in 2013 and what his plans are for the future.
A lot of his followers are quite observant of his health status in this video, and I am a little concerned myself. But we can’t ignore the fact that he’s in India – it’s hot and he’s just done a workshop, plus he’s trying to speak in English. So what we’re seeing might just be him trying to use his brain while fatigued. Lol – who doesn’t find that difficult? So it’s nothing to be too concerned about let’s hope :).
Just like the previous video, here we learn a lot about
Physicx and his walk through the culture. I found the reason behind his timing for
the military service quite clever, but I felt a bit deflated when he admitted
he won’t be battling or doing competitions any time soon due to his injuries.
Somehow, I felt a hint of resignation there too, something that says he’s lost
his old skills because of his shoulder and won’t be trying to get them back. I
only wish to be proved wrong.
Still, I think going for a new style is also a good road to
take – I can’t wait to see what he’s discovered. As long as he puts his soul
into his dancing, and people can feel it emanating through him, then even a
change in style can’t beat the bboy that he is. Besides, he said it himself
years ago that bboys should focus on foundations the more they gain experience.
Physicx is not equal to, but more than, power moves so I’m open to see what he’ll
deliver :]
As a piece of advice, he stresses that bboys and bgirls need
to always search for quality. He understands that looking good is everything to
a bboy – but that doesn’t mean doing big powermoves in order to get those props.
One should look good by cleaning their moves, doing better techniques and
finding a sense of creativity and originality. Above all, do it like you know
it. Know your moves and execute them well.
What I found interesting and quite contradicting to the
video was when he admitted his parents thought he wasn’t good at studying. So
hey, they thought, go dance if you’re so good at it. Wikipedia on the other
hand says he’s got a PhD in physics. Say what? At Seoul University even. Lol.
Is someone lying to me again? Wiki…?!
Another deflating point made in the video is that Rivers seem to be on the
same boat as Physicx. There are probably no competitions and other things for
them any time soon. Some are with families already so I guess it’s time for
them to live life and earn a living. Definitely demotivating heh, but I’m glad
they’re all still dancing. Gotta love that spirit. Hopefully we’ll see Rivers
out internationally again, even if for other events besides competitions.
Love. Peace. Unity. Having Fun.
