Rock Steady Crew has Bailrok, Supercr3w has JStyles, Skill Methodz has Lil Demon and now Soul Mavericks have Terra. Crews these days love their little Minions - the young Guns. And why wouldn’t they when these little creatures wreak havoc on the floor on par with their adult counterparts? The only difference is they’re much cuter.
After the Chelles Battle Pro that happened last weekend, Bgirl Terra made quite a series of headlines as the sensational 6-year old that tore up the floor with her amazing breaking skills. Yes, I do believe that she deserved all the props she’s been getting, but when something becomes so big that it gets blown out of proportion as I’m starting to see with Terra, it becomes an issue. First of all, anyone who watched this and did not think she’s amazing must be like, I don't know, a pessimist? She’s cute, she’s got style, a whole lot of swag and most importantly, she dances. Do I even need to mention her confidence?! She’s all like, I can smoke you whenever I want, I’ll school you and – wait hold up, I ain’t done yet, get back over there foo’ then does flares on Leelou’s face.
Now that's Hip Hop. Gotta love that kind of attitude in a battle especially because she’s just a kid – it’s not exactly what you teach them at that age. She’s not just out there to look cute yo’, she’s out there to smoke (in the battle sense…). It’s what we need more in the bgirl scene, imho.

My concern does not lie with Terra at all, but with her audience. Her videos from Chelles had gone viral and she’s been getting deserved props but totally unnecessary attention. Her battles have entertainment value of course, but when the YouTube generation begins to put labels on her so willingly, nah – that’s just not how you do. Yes, she's amazing. No, she's not the best. For her age, maybe - but let's keep it at that. She could be one of the best that's for sure.

People can smoke her any day, but because of her age she’s become the pet favourite. I have to admit she’s stunning for her age but don’t go putting her in a league she doesn’t belong to just yet. It's such a worry when the audience of Terra's videos are also people who know absolutely nothing about the scene and make claims that are not exactly true. However, headlines will always look for the strongest claims and set that in stone. When someone says she's absolutely the best, suddenly it becomes a fact. It's a problem when the media decides to quote clueless and uninformed or misinformed people.
