What went down recently in New Zealand's bboy scene was the Homegrown Bboy Battles which was incorporated in a huge event that mainly celebrates New Zealand-made music. These bboy battles were 2 v 2.
During the Heats I found the Lokomotion and Dope Dealers round really amazing. Both teams were mean, and I had always been quite the LoKomotion supporter but Dope Dealers - they dealin' with Dopeness yo'. Especially with their second battle with Juse; Stretchmark had it going on. Not to mention his round with Voltron, he had a no-hand windmill gain momentum in the middle of it. That was dope. Again, I enjoyed it when Lokomotion went up against Voltron, but their commandoes are always misplaced I think lol. Work on it boys! Is it the kiwi way to battle and be supportive at the same time?! Introducing bboy crew Common Ground
It was Orientation Week ‘12 at Auckland University when I finally saw these guys in person. That particular week had a theme for each day
and one of them was Hip Hop on Wednesday. Hip Hop Day? Pure happiness. This meant events in the Quad were going
to be all about Hip Hop. Suhweeet! I didn't have class that day but I managed to drag myself there anyway because I'm hardcore like that.
