This is a throwback from 2007 and it's a good one! :) I don't exactly know the details of where or when this happened but judging by Ismael and Youval (host) who are both french, and from the fact the crowd had initially been at Ismael's side - it must have happened in France at Ismael's turf - that is, until Spee-D smoked him and it became his turf, haha!
Watch and learn.
Feigning a hand shake at the start of a battle is considered a strategy. But at the end of a battle? I believe is just straight up disrespectful. When Spee-D's sincerity was rejected, I knew real beef was gonna go down. Ismael putting on the tough act after the battle had ended, especially when he clearly lost, was a horrible display of sportsmanship in my opinion. Not only was it embarrassing but he was fighting a losing battle and culminating himself a bad name.
What was originally a Spee-D call out became an Ismael call out. The way Spee-D reacted from being disrespected, how he got down on the floor, and even doing two rounds to prove a point, anyone could see that he wanted to teach Ismael a lesson. I say good on him. I think some bboys really need straightening out. Like Crazy Legs said, bboying today has moved away from being a "thug" thing, so there's really no reason for him to act like that when the battle was clearly over.
I don't understand what point Ismael was trying to make by provoking a bboy who's obviously incredible enough to have a name out there for himself. If it's for reputation then going against Spee-D was a bad choice and one too big of a step. I would have given him props if his level was the same as Spee-D's; sure he had some skills, anyone could see that, but it takes a lot more than skills in a cypher - there's execution and stamina (among others!) and both bboys are in two completely different leagues. Ismael could be great, but he needs to work not just physically but also mentally. Attitude ≠ Bboying.
Spee-D cooked Ismael up a good serving of humiliation served on a silver platter. For dessert, Spee-D went on to take the championship title for the Red Bull BC One that same year! Ouch. Double Slap. On. The. Face! Ismael had a long way to go and Spee-D used him as practice fodder.
Let this be a lesson to all of you! Enter cyphers and call out bboys! But if you get smoked - give respect where they're due.
Lol. Peace and Love x
