No one could have missed Pharrell styling "that hat" during the grammys. If you don't know what I mean by "that hat" then you probably didn't watch the grammys at all this year. It was hard to miss. At first the hat was pretty easy to overlook because most people understand Pharrell to be a very fashionable and fashion forward kind of guy. After all, he is a member of the Billionaire Boy's Club and even starred as a guest judge for the Project Runway. Thinking back, I realised I barely watched Pharrell at all! Good Lord, that hat was pretty distracting. He looked like Smokey the Bear.
But after watching this video I realised it was a pretty clever ploy.
He's been seen styling that hat for a while before the grammys and even sporting the iconic 3 stripes. It may or may have been a fashion statement but the ploy to iconize a simple object like a hat was an incredible publicity strategy. If that was the sole purpose then it worked perfectly. Honestly, how many people were glued to their TVs during grammy season? I mean, I definitely didn't need to second guess the man's identity after seeing that symbolic hat.
The story is that Pharrell recently signed a long-term contract to join the list of celebrities currently collaborating with Adidas, such as Kanye and A$AP Rocky to name a few. To learn more, here is a short article from sneakerfreaker. All the talk about Bionic Yarn is quite exciting, whatever it is.
Peaces :) x
