I love that photo with the monkey! An interview had
recently been published at the Bboy Spot about Physicx’s whereabouts and
business this year. Apparently he's been travelling around and has made Thailand his new home for the time being.
The interview lets us in on Physicx’s thoughts of today’s
breaking scene, how much it has evolved over the years and the importance of
letting go of social media to find your own creativity.
“Do not let Facebook and YouTube influence you to have the same style as other bboys/bgirls. Back in the days, everybody had a different style.”
I admire that he mentioned the social media at all. Older
and seasoned bboys always go on about finding creativity but never tell us to
stay away from places like YouTube. It’s such a forward suggestion but it
speaks truth about anything creative. I agree that the internet had created a
smaller world and a better platform to share work from all over the world but at the
same time, it compromises our creativity when within our fingertips we
have a huge database of original works we can easily copy from with just a few
clicks.
Physicx walked us through his life as a bboy from the beginning until the present mentioning that it was in 2003 during the UK Bboy Championships that he saw Bboy Focus from Flow-Mo and realised his need of foundation. We also get told about the repercussions of not resting and the injuries he carried with him.
